Our History
It's a Family Business!
Barry Bartlett is the original owner and founder of Chico Septic and was in the septic business for years. In the 1970s, Barry Bartlett worked as a carpenter in Weaverville Ca. until one day, he came across an old septic truck and had an idea. He made a deal with the owner, purchased the truck, and thus his new journey began! He began pumping septic tanks for $50 a pop.
Many years later, Barry made the move to Chico with his family and Chico Septic was born. Barry continued to run Chico Septic until 2014. Upon retirement, his daughter Rachel proudly took over the family business. Rachel has been in and around the business since she was 5 years old, at the age of 16, she helped with the business on weekends and during school breaks. Rachel also owns and operates Johnny on the Spot Portable Toilets, which she started on her own in the year 2000.
