After purchasing the truck from its owner, he began pumping septic tanks for just $50 each, marking the beginning of his new venture.Years later, Barry moved his family to Chico, where he officially founded Chico Septic. He successfully ran the business until 2014 when he retired and handed it over to his daughter, Rachel. Rachel, who has been involved in the business since she was five, began helping on weekends and during school breaks at age 16. In addition to overseeing Chico Septic, she also owns and operates Johnny on the Spot Portable Toilets, a business she started in 2000.
